Peter Devison was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1977. In 1995, he moved to Vancouver, BC to study kinesiology and in 2002, he left Vancouver to obtain a second degree in Oenology and Viticulture at Lincoln University in New Zealand. Before completing his winemaking degree in the fall of 2004, Peter worked at several wineries in both New Zealand and Australia where he developed a deep appreciation for clean, modern winemaking in large facilities.
Peter began his Washington wine career in 2004 at Vin du Lac, a small boutique winery in Lake Chelan. For the next two years, he served as the head winemaker for Tsillan Cellars and produced highly acclaimed, 90+ rated wines from the 2005 & 2006 vintages. In 2007, Peter joined Waterbrook Winery in Walla Walla to assist head winemaker John Freeman with production. In 2009, Peter accepted the position of head winemaker for Apex Cellars. Peter believes very strongly in maintaining the tradition and esteemed reputation that Waterbrook has had since production began in 1984 and enjoys the big, fruit forward flavor profiles that Washington wines are best known for.
